Overview of the club's rules
Our club’s rules of association (or constitution) consists of two parts:
- The Model Rules of Consumer Affairs Victoria, as may apply to all registered not-for-profit clubs in Victoria, of which we are one; and,
- Any amendments to the Model Rules as voted for and passed at a Special General Meeting (SGM) or Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Our club adopted the Model Rules at the SGM on 5th May 2013 and has made amendments to some rules as follows:
- At the SGM on 5th May 2013, the categories of membership and composition of the committee and sub-committees were determined; and,
- At the SGM on 21st May 2017, the categories of membership and the composition of the committee were revised. These new categories and compositions replace those of the previous SGM.
- At the SGM on 24th February 2024, the composition of the committee was revised, replacing the composition of the previous SGM.
At the club’s AGM each year (held in July) the membership fees for the upcoming year are determined and members elect officers of the club for the upcoming year, in accordance with the committee and sub-committee structures created at the SGM’s.
So, in order to fully understand the club’s current rules of association, you should read the entire Model rules, then the minutes of the two SGM’s, and also apply the membership fees as passed at the most recent AGM.
