Sailing at YYC
We sail a variety of catamarans, mono hull dinghies and trailable yachts. There is a concrete launch ramp for larger boats and good mooring in the sheltered lagoon close to the clubhouse. For Off the Beach classes, the grass foreshore and permanent water-to-the-edge makes lauching your boat a pleasure!
Sail racing takes place on Saturday mornings either at 11am or 1pm, depending on time of year and the training program. Forthcoming activities are listed on our home page or Events page.
We have a strong Learn to Sail program for both adults and juniors (age 8 and over). If you wish to take up an exciting new pastime or get back into the sport, why not give us a call or contact the club?
If you are new to sailing and are looking to join, you are welcome to come down to the club, have a look around and meet some of the members. We are sure you will experience the thrills, satisfaction and friendships that sailing can offer.
If you are already a sailor, YYC offers you the opportunity to join in our events free of charge on three separate days.
Safety
Attention all sailors! Before you hit the water for the new season, you will also need to complete the appropriate safety declaration Audit Form to suit your boat.
Completed declarations to be returned to the club with your membership forms, or handed to the Officer of the Day when you next sail.
For Junior sailors, your parents or a responsible adult can help you fill one out.
To compete at YYC your boat must meet the relevant safety requirements and recommendations stated in the Racing Rules of Sailing and the Yachting Australia special regulations and safety prescriptions.
